Simplicity

We seem to be attracted to the next thing or experience, thinking that acquiring this will somehow be the solution. The solution to what? Yeah, we don't really focus on that. We just want the thing or experience to do something for us, fill some hole, fix something.


The bigger paycheck will help us feel secure or safe. Getting invited to the party will help us feel connected and loved. Getting the college degree or certificate will help us feel accomplished and purposeful. Not really. The thing or experience is just a thing or experience. It may or may not bring about the feelings that we want.


And, psssst, that's what we really want - feeling. When we do our soul searching, we realize that we don't care about the thing or experience. We care about how the thing or experience makes us feel! So, how do you want to feel? Really!? Safe? ...or at peace? Loved by someone? ...or feeling love for self and everyone? Accomplished? ...or living every moment in a state of peaceful purpose?


You can have the feeling without the thing or experience. And often the thing or experience can't give you the feeling that your really want. Explore your goals as feeling states. And then do the internal work to live in those feeling states, with or without new things or experiences.
